Let’s Catch Up

Hey hey friends! I have been a busy bee lately and haven’t checked in for awhile. I just want to do a fast forward of life and get us up to speed so this might be a little all over the place, but that’s pretty much me anyway.

I ran away to the mountains for the 4th of July for a much needed break from the heat and life. We went up north to Walden close to the Wyoming border. This little cabin was an AirBnB find that was the perfect little space for me and the pups to get away from it all. It was a historic trapper cabin held together with antique railroad ties.

The cabin was right on the doorstep of Routt National Forest and we had a blast exploring some trails. Wildlife was everywhere and I saw a huge black bear, moose, pronghorn, foxes, and I think a wolf. I know there aren’t supposed to be wolves in Colorado, but I was so close to the WY border. It looked just like the wolves I’ve seen and was HUGE! And of course for the entire minute I could see it I was so shocked I never even thought to take a picture. #bloggerfail So I will just keep telling myself it was a wolf. So exciting to see so much wildlife regardless!

The Black Sand Dunes are nearby as well. This was definitely the dog’s favorite part of the trip. Bodie had never been on sand before and was digging up a storm the entire time. I think this was the best day of his life. 🙂

I wore the dogs out hiking all over the place. They loved being in nature, but it was really hot and by the end of it Gryff kept laying down and it was hard to get him back to the cabin.

It was super fun trip, but it was warm the entire time so we made sure to stop at the river on the way home and cool off. This was probably Gryffin’s favorite part.

We came home rejuvenated and covered in dirt. What a fun trip!

There have been some memorable eats lately too. I’ve been all about the mussels lately. I just can’t get enough.

The dogs have been making new friends lately too. We hung out with these two cuties, Tucker and Forest.

These two are just the sweetest brothers and it was so fun to watch four big boys play together. Bodie and Tucker were fast friends. Gryff and Forest had more in common and both appreciated a little more alone time during the play sesh. Too cute!

And that brings us pretty much up to date. Last weekend I finally got to experience the most magical event that I had been waiting for for over half a year. My friends and I bought tickets to see the Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire symphony back in January and the day finally came!

A live symphony plays the film score to the movie while the film plays on huge screens. It was just as moving and magical as I’d hoped it would be.
