Good morning friends! How was your weekend? Ours was nice and relaxing. I’ve got quite a bit of travel coming up in the next few weeks so we wanted to slow it down and enjoy the little things this weekend. Not a long post today, just checking in for a minute to check in and say hello.
“Why you no play with me?”, Gryffy says. I don’t think he understands why I stare at these boring pages for hours. 🙂 Note the lovely beard smears on the page. Yes, I do buy my own books instead of borrowing them from the library because of this. Things you never thought of before owning a Spinone.
We’ve been out and about enjoying the beautiful frosty weather. We headed out to one of our favorite walks, Bear Creek Trail.
In some exciting running news, Bodie is now over a year old and can start running with me! I usually take Gryff running and Bodie walks with Everett. Gryff and I have logged many miles together and have a pretty good rhythm. Bodie is still a little dash-stop-dash so we are taking it in small steps. I run with Bodie about a quarter mile before we switch off and run Gryff the rest of the time. Slowly we’ll build up longer duration and I hope to eventually run with both dogs!
The lakes were frozen and we only saw a few ducks and one amazing crane flying past. Such a pretty area.
There is a ton of signage about the trees being preserved for wildlife and to stay on the path. We also came across these fantastic bat boxes! Love love love it!
The parking lot is near a prairie dog colony. I think prairie dogs are the cutest little things, but the dog’s prey drive was in overload and Gryff and Bodie were channeling their inner hunters until we got back to the car.
Bodie has a new harness and did great his first time trying it out. Those pups sure do make me happy.
All those frozen miles built up quite the appetite and we headed out in search of sustenance. We splurged for some seafood which did not disappoint.
It’s had been literally years since I’d had lobster and it was just perfection. I’d also never tried it poached in parchment paper. Amazzzzzing.
Somehow the dogs still had energy to play when we got home so I busted out a new toy. I usually buy their toys in 5 or 10 packs then portion them out over a couple of months. With almost 200 pounds of dog to entertain everyday, toys don’t last long around here. This little giraffe fulfilled its mission in life in about 5 minutes before it was deemed unsafe for the little yellow guy. The big guy doesn’t destroy stuff as much anymore, but Bodie’s baby teeth will never be satiated it feels like some days. 🙂
I hope you have been keeping warm in your part of the world and are enjoying this beautiful time of year. I love the frost and cold but was pleased to see this beauty blooming inside the monkey house at work despite the snow outside.
Have a great day, friends!
What was the best part of your weekend?
