Well hello there! Yesterday was slated for 3 miles, but about an mile into my run, I started to feel pain in my feet and some itchiness in my legs. Fast forward about 10 minutes and I was having a full blown allergic reaction and had to quit the run. This is pre-run and pre-swollen sad face.
This isn’t the first time I’ve had a reaction like this during a run, but it was by far the worst one and was kind of scary for a few minutes there while I waited for the Benadryl to kick in. I think a trip to the allergist is in order.
Note: My legs should not be the color of strawberries and my toes don’t typically look like baby sausages. Also, please ignore my tragic nail polish. I paint my toes about twice a year and then just let them get terrible before I paint them again. I would show you a picture of my face after the reaction, but I don’t want to scare you. I hope I can figure out what is triggering these allergy attacks and find a better way to manage them.
These two have been nursing me back to health and helping me keep my mind off of my new Quasimodo look.
In healthier, more interesting news, I read this article about Robert Pope, a real life Forrest Gump. He is running across America following the same route that Forrest did in the movie. He even has the red hat and beard! He is raising money for charities including the World Wildlife Fund. So far, he’s run over 5,000 miles! I just can’t imagine that amount of running and am so incredibly inspired by Pope and wish him the best of luck as he continues on his journey! Run, Forest, Run! (I had too.)
